Araku Valley:

Araku Valley is located at an average altitude ranging between 600 m and 900 m above the sea level. Spreading over an area of 36 km, the valley is situated on Eastern Ghats and offers beautiful views of valley, waterfalls and streams.
The pleasant weather and beautiful hills and valleys make the place ideal for its natural beauty and coffee plantations. Housing more than 17 tribal societies, Dhimsa dance with colourful costumes is the main attraction of the region depicting rich culture and tradition. ItikaPongal is the famous festival celebrated in the region with fervour. Other major attractions of the area include Padmapuram Gardens, Paderu, Sangda Falls, Rishikonda Beach and Matsyagundam. Apart from this, tourists can visit the Araku Tribal Museum for having a glimpse of tribal lifestyle and can purchase articles related to tribal handicrafts.

 

Rishi Konda Beach:

Borra Caves are situated on the East Coast of India in the Anantagiri Hill range of the Araku Valley. Spread across an area of about 2 sq km, the caves are situated around 1,400 m above sea level. In 1807, the caves were discovered by William King George of the Geological Survey of India. Considered to be one of the largest caves in India, the caves have karstic limestone structures, which extend to a depth of 80 m.

 

Borra Caves:

Mahanandi Village in Kurnool, is situated to the east of Nallamala Hills. The nine nandis called as ‘Navanandis’ can be seen from the village. The Mahanandiswara Swamy Temple is the prime attraction of the village, belonging to the Chalukyan period. It is devoted to Lord Mahanandiswara, one of the forms of Lord Shiva. The festival of Magha Bhula Chaturdasi is celebrated here in the month of February or March

 

Simhachalam:

Simhachalam, also known as Simhadri, is a beautiful Hindu temple dedicated to Lord Narasimha. It is believed that the hill top is a holy adobe of VarahaNarasimha Swami. The name of the temple is derived from the word Narasimha, nara meaning male and simha meaning lion, an incarnation of Lord Vishnu..

 

 

Kailasagiri Hill Park:

KailasaGiri is a beautiful hill station of the destination offering beautiful view of the sea. The place is surrounded by Rushikonda Beach and Ramakrishna Beach on its left and hillock on its right. The name of the hill is derived from the word Kailasa, which means abode of Lord Shiva and Goddess Parvati.

 

RamaKrishna Beach:

Ramakrishna Beach is one of the popular beaches located on the Eastern coastline of the country. Situated at the coast of Bay of Bengal, the beach constitutes a large part of the seafront. Often referred to as twin beaches, the Ramakrishna Beach and the Lawson's Bay Beach offer beautiful views of sunset, sunrise and the natural surroundings.

 

 

Submarine Museum:

Submarine Museum, also known as Smritika, is situated near the beautiful location namely, the Ramakrishna Beach. Earlier the museum was an INS Kursura, a Russian built submarine; however in 2001 it was converted into a Submarine Museum. Being one of its own kinds in entire Asian continent, the Submarine Museum attracts many tourists.

 

Dolphin's Nose:

Dolphin's Nose is one of the popular tourist attractions located in the southern part of the destination. Possessing a height of about 174 metres, the rocky headland is surmounted on an average altitude of 358 metres above the sea level. The name of the place is derived from the shape of the rock, which resembles a nose of the dolphin.

 

 

Indira Gandhi Zoological Park:

Indira Gandhi Zoological Park is one of the largest zoological parks of Andhra Pradesh situated in Visakhapatnam. Spread across an area of around 625 acres, the zoological park is named after Indira Gandhi the former Prime Minister of India. Surrounded by Eastern Ghats on three sides, the park has the flowing Bay of Bengal on its fourth side.

 

Jagadamba Centre:

Jagadamba Centre, also known as Jagadamba Junction, is among the popular sites of entertainment. The name of the site is derived from Jagadamba movie theatre, one of the best movie theatres in the region. Tourists can also visit this site for exploring various shopping malls and restaurants located in close vicinity.

 

 

Yarada Beach:

Yarada Beach is surrounded by hills from three sides and Bay of Bengal on the fourth side. Located in close vicinity of the destination, the beach is dotted with lush green surroundings and soft golden sands. The beach is an ideal tourist spot for nature lovers as they can capture beautiful views of sunrise and sunsets on this huge coastline.

 

Naval Museum:

Naval Museum was established in 1989 and is also famous by the name of SwarnaJyoti Museum. Located in the ENC complex in Visakhapatnam, the museum displays Indian Maritime history. A variety of pictures, models of warships and other equipments for offering a view of the rich history of the country are displayed in the museum..

 

 

Bheemli:

GBheemli Beach, also known as Bheemunipatnam Beach, is situated at the assemblage of Gosthani River and the Bay of Bengal. Situated on a 30 km long Bheemli Visakhapatnam Beach road, the beach offers beautiful view of sea, sand, hills and greenery. Dotted with fishing villages, pine trees and small temple structures, the beach is covered with golden sand.

 

Vuda Park:

VUDA Park, also known as Taraka Rama Park, is one of the beautiful tourist attractions that spread over an area of around 55 acres. Dotted with over 2,500 shady trees, the 37 acres of total land is covered with lawns, various species of flower plants, hedge plants and others.

 

War Memorial:

War Memorial, also known as Victory at Sea, is spread across a huge park at the Ramakrishna Beach in the destination. Surrounded by concrete walls, the memorial has a beautiful tower like structure, which is a replica of Amar JawanJyoti at India Gate in New Delhi. The memorial is dedicated to the soldiers, who sacrificed their lives for the cause of national integrity and border protection.

 

Ramakrishna Mission:

Ramakrishna Mission, also known as The Ramakrishna Mission Ashram, was built in 1938 on Ramakrishna Beach. Apart from offering natural and peaceful environment, the ashram is famous for offering beautiful view of the rising sun. Established with an aim of providing educational, cultural and medical facilities, the ashram has provided a number of services for the relief and rehabilitation of the poor.

 

Lawson's Bay Beach:

Lawson's Bay Beach, also known as Pedawaltair Beach, is located in close vicinity of Ramakrishna Beach on the way to KailasaGiri. Surrounded with greenery, the beach is covered with golden sands. The sea with shallow crystal clear water and calm waves is an ideal place for swimming, sunbathing, picnicking, boating, sailing and surfing.

 

Kambalakonda Wildlife Sanctuary:

Kambalakonda Wildlife Sanctuary has a wide variety of flora and fauna in their natural habitat. Spread across an area of around 71 square kilometres, it is covered with dry evergreen forest mixed with shrubs and meadows. At present, the forest is under the control of Andhra Pradesh Forest Department, however till 1970, the land belonged to Maharajah of Vizianagaram.

 

Gangavaram Beach:

Gangavaram Beach is one of the beautiful beaches located on the south of Visakhapatnam. Located in close vicinity of Visakhapatnam Steel Plant, the beach is lined with huge and shady palm trees. Owing to its beautiful surroundings and vast coastline, the beach is an ideal place for numerous Indian film and TV serial makers.

 

 

Matsyadarshini:

Matsyadarshini Aquarium is a beautiful air-conditioned aquarium located on the shore of Ramakrishna Beach. The aquarium was set up and managed by Municipal Corporation of Visakhapatnam. The site was a Municipal Commissioner’s Bungalow until May 1990 however it was turned into an aquarium in 1994..

 

 

Mudasarlova Water Works and Park:

Mudasarlova Water Works and Park, constructed during the British rule, is one of the oldest existing parks in the destination. Popular with the name of Mudasarlova Water Reservoir, the park is one of the main water sources of the city.

 

 

Kurusura Submarine Museum:

The Kurusura Submarine Museum, controlled by Indian Navy, is a must visit place in Visakhapatnam. It is an old submarine which was in use during 1971 war. It is very seldom that a non-Navy man can enter such a submarine and understand how difficult the life of Naval Officers under the sea is for months together.
